MS Dhoni wrote his name in the history books during the 2024 India Premier League after Chennai Super Kings (CSK) and Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai. Dhoni became the first player in history to achieve an elusive feat in the IPL's rich history of 17 seasons.
MS Dhoni created history in the 2024 Indian Premier League (IPL) on Sunday (April 28) as the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) returned to winning ways with an emphatic victory of 78 runs against the Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai.
While the former captain wrote his name in history, it was the current captain who was the star of the show, with a stunning knock of 98 in 54 balls. While Ruturaj missed the elusive milsetone of hitting back-to-back centuries, his knock helped CSK post a total of213 on the board. Daryl Mitchell's 32-ball 52 and a quick-fire 39 of 30 balls from Shivam Dube helped the Men in Yellow cross the 200-run mark.
Tushar Despande was the star of the show with the ball and a four-wicket haul, which included the big wickets of the explosive opening pair, Abhishek Sharma and Travis Head. Ravindar Jadeja bowled a brilliant spell, which saw him concede just 22 runs in four overs.
MS Dhoni Creates History
Dhoni wrote his name in the history books by becoming the first player in the 17 seasons of the IPL to be part of 150 wins as a player in the league. The five-time IPL-winning captain has won a total of 150 matches in the IPL. Most of Dhoni's success has come at CSK, of which he has been a part since 2008 and won 135 games. Dhoni also won 15 matches with the Rising Pune Super Giant in 2016 and 2017.
